Learn More about Bonneville Salt Flats

Bonneville Salt Flats, located in northwestern Utah on the border of Nevada in the United States, is a spectacular white salt desert. It attracts a lot of photographers from all over the world. But how was this white salt flat created? Well, it is due to the drying up of a salt lake called Bonneville Lake, which dates back 17,000 years. To see this up close, there is a Bonneville Salt Lakes trail that is open to the public to drive through this endless white salt land. Once there, you can see the Tree of Utah, a huge sculpture dating from the 1980s. This one is made of cement and represents a tree made of spheres covered with ceramic pieces. Of course, you can't sleep on the spot, so there is a campground located about twenty minutes in West Wendover in Nevada. And if you want better comfort, there are hotels in the same place or in Salt Lake City. A tip for all summer visitors: bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen and a small bottle of water to cool down because the reflection of the rays of the sun on this area can be terrible. And for a little experience rich in tasting, do not hesitate to taste the salt under your feet, it is not forbidden! Indeed, it will have a rather particular taste but it is an experience to do once in its life! You will be served, because since 1949, pilots have come to beat speed records. The World of Speed is a competition among many others that takes place every September, so if you are there at that time, do not hesitate to live this event.
